Urban Design - neighborhood incentives and project involvement

Throughout October 2019 to present, I have been a part of stakeholder meetings, neighborhood comment rounds and a member of the transportation committee in our neighborhood.

Several projects are included below:

Oct 2019- April 2020 South Lincoln Street Transit Proposal (Grassroots effort with Amanda Roberts and I drafting and creating a vision for our neighborhood.

April 2020- Current Lincoln Street Transit and Enhancements Project Stakeholders - Coordination and development of transit routes and safety efforts in accordance with Denver’s Vision Zero.

December 2019- Mississippi and Downing Improvements- Proposals are new street lights

May 2020- Current South Central Bikeways Network Stakeholders - Coordination and development of bikeways throughout our neighborhood

March 2020- Current West Wash Park Mobility Gang- Grass roots mobility movement building connections to assist in project proposal

June 2020 Alameda and Downing Improvements - Proposals for safer crossing

May 2020- Current Lincoln Street- A Community- Nextdoor group started to advocate on behalf of residents to the city

June 2020- Current Washington Park Area History Club- Nextdoor group with support from Historic Denver to develop awareness of the history of our neighborhood and assist in documentation of the historic homes.

August 2020- Current Lincoln-Broadway Corridor Registered Neighborhood Association- A proposal of proposed new RNO for our neighborhood.

All of this was worked on during my maternity leave for my second child.

I provided photoshopped rendered images for an article by Amanda Roberts that visualized what South Lincoln Street in Denver could be transformed into with a bit of urban design changes.

Developed transit proposal for city planners, rno’s, and city council for south lincoln street

What started as a unpopular transit proposal by the city, turned into a passion project. A neighbor and I developed alternate solutions, gained support throughout the neighborhood and city, and presented options to various transit authorities. We gained WWPNA approval and City Planning Approval in May 2020.

COVID Friendly Schools

I worked in partnership with a member of our elementary school board to review options as a whole for Denver Public Schools. How could we utilized our streets to make outdoor classrooms that are safe for our children during COVID? I created visual renderings to represent these ideas for an article that Tenly William’s wrote.
